Since 1973, Housing Kitsap has made homeownership affordable by enabling low-income individuals and families to build their own homes. We offer USDA's Mutual Self Help Program in Kitsap County and surrounding counties to make the dream of homeownership a reality.

This unique and rewarding program offers income eligible applicants the opportunity to own their own home by participating in groups of 8-12 families who build each other’s homes, with help and guidance from Housing Kitsap. Mortgage payments are subsidized – based on total household income – ensuring affordability for hard-working families' and individuals' homeownership.

Dedicated to energy efficiency and environmental friendliness, Housing Kitsap continues to improve the floorplans we offer, which, as a bonus, lowers homeownership costs even further. All of our homes meet Northwest Energy Star® requirements, exceed Washington State's Evergreen Standard® and achieve 4.5 (out of 5) stars in the Kitsap Built Green Program®.  We have reached this level of energy efficiency by implementing advanced framing techniques, high value insulation, high performance windows and other techniques combined with air leakage testing and sealing. These features allow for better air quality and lower energy and water costs for our homeowners.
